CHARTER FAQ
Common questions
answered clearly.
Pricing is based on flight time, aircraft type, and any positioning required to get the helicopter to your pickup point. As a guide, an R44 is often in the $990 to $1,400 per hour range, and turbine aircraft such as the LongRanger or H125 commonly run $2,200 to $2,900+ per hour depending on payload, landing approvals, and the mission profile.
Typical one way flight times (estimate only) include Gold Coast to Brisbane around 20 to 25 minutes, Gold Coast to Sunshine Coast around 50 minutes, and Gold Coast to Byron Bay around 30 minutes depending on routing and landing location.
Most Gold Coast charters depart from approved sites such as Coolangatta Airport (OOL), Gold Coast Turf Club, and Sanctuary Cove. If you are coming from Brisbane or interstate, we can also position the aircraft from Archerfield or other suitable bases and meet you at the most practical pickup point for your timing.
Most charters have a minimum charge, and it varies by aircraft type and where the helicopter needs to position from. When you request a quote we confirm the minimum up front, along with what is included, so you can make a clean decision with no surprises.
Yes. We can coordinate pickups and drop offs at Coolangatta Airport (OOL) and align the timing to your flight. If your airline schedule moves, tell us as early as you can and we will do our best to adjust the plan within operational limits and any minimums that apply.
Sometimes. The Gold Coast beachfront strip has limited approved landing options and the final pickup point depends on permissions, obstacles, people movement, and airspace on the day. If you tell us your exact venue we will suggest the closest practical landing site (often Turf Club, Sanctuary Cove, or OOL) and we can plan a short ground transfer if needed.
Often yes, provided the site is suitable and we have landowner permission. We look for clear space, safe approaches, and no hazards such as wires. Share the address when you request a quote and we will do an initial assessment and confirm what is feasible before anything is locked in.
Yes, this is one of the most popular Gold Coast charter uses. If the venue has an established landing area we coordinate with them directly. If it does not, we can often propose a nearby suitable landing option and keep the day smooth with minimal driving.
Luggage capacity depends on aircraft choice and passenger weights. Soft bags are best. The R44 suits light day bags, while the LongRanger and H125 handle more luggage for transfers and overnight trips. If you tell us the number of bags and what they are (backpacks, golf clubs, pelican cases) we will match the right aircraft from the start.
Yes. Helicopters operate to strict legal weight limits, and individual seat limits can apply depending on aircraft and configuration. We may request passenger and luggage weights so the flight is planned safely and compliantly. Accurate numbers protect safety, performance, and comfort.
For weddings and major events, two to four weeks is a good window. For transfers and corporate movements, we can often accommodate 24 to 48 hours if aircraft and crew availability align. If it is urgent, call us on 0490 817 727 and we will tell you what is realistically possible.
Our fleet ranges from the Robinson R44 (up to 3 passengers), the Bell LongRanger (up to 6 passengers), and the Airbus H125 (up to 5 passengers). For groups larger than 6, we can coordinate multi aircraft plans so everyone moves together on a single run sheet.
It depends on passenger count, luggage, distance, and landing complexity. The R44 is the best value for 1 to 3 passengers on straightforward point to point hops. The LongRanger suits 4 to 6 passengers with better luggage capacity and a smoother turbine feel. The H125 is the capability option for heavier payloads, off property landings, and more demanding mission profiles.
Yes, mainly for filming and photography missions. Doors off needs to be planned in advance, and it changes what can be carried and how the flight is configured. Tell us what you are shooting and we will propose the safest, cleanest setup.
Yes. Our aircraft are equipped with air conditioning and premium noise cancelling headsets, which makes a big difference in Queensland conditions, especially on longer legs and summer days.
No. Our single engine charter operations are conducted in daylight under CASA rules, which means we plan to be on the ground before last light. If you have an evening event, we build the day so the final landing happens comfortably within daylight.
If we cancel due to weather or safety, you can reschedule or receive a full refund depending on the circumstances. If you cancel, we generally require at least 24 hours notice for a refund. Cancellations inside 24 hours may forfeit the booking fee because aircraft and crew have been reserved.
Helicopters are weather dependent. If low cloud, heavy rain, or strong winds make the flight unsafe, your pilot will delay, reroute, reschedule, or cancel. We will always give you a clear call as early as we can, but safety decisions are made close to departure using real conditions.
Yes. Cross border trips are common, including Byron Bay, Ballina, and private properties in Northern NSW. We handle flight planning, airspace requirements, and landing permissions so the trip stays simple for you.
No. For safety and cabin protection reasons, we do not carry pets on our charter flights.
We operate under an Air Operator’s Certificate issued by CASA. Aircraft are maintained to commercial standards and our pilots are commercially licensed and trained for off airport operations and risk management. If you have a specific concern, ask it, we will answer it directly.
