CHARTER FAQ
Common questions
answered clearly.
Pricing is based on flight time and aircraft type. Entry-level machines (R44) typically start around $990–$1,400/hr, while turbine helicopters (LongRanger / H125) are commonly $2,200–$2,900+/hr depending on mission, payload and approvals.
Popular estimates (one way):
• Archerfield to Gold Coast: ~20–25 mins
• Archerfield to Sunshine Coast: ~30 mins
• Brisbane to Byron Bay: ~40 mins
Most charters have a minimum charge that depends on aircraft type and where the aircraft needs to position from. When you request a quote, we’ll confirm the minimums (if any) up front so there are no surprises.
Our primary departure point is Archerfield Airport, with easy access and free parking. We can also organise departures from approved helipads and suitable private properties (subject to assessment and permission). If you’re aiming for Brisbane Airport (BNE) transfers, we’ll advise the most practical pickup options based on your timing and aircraft.
Yes, provided the site is suitable. As a guide we look for a clear area of around 30m x 30m, flat ground, and no overhead wires. Our pilots will perform a Google Earth assessment and confirm landowner permission before locking it in. Contact us with your address and we’ll assess it.
Sometimes. It depends on whether there is a suitable, approved landing site nearby and whether conditions are right on the day (obstacles, people, permissions and airspace). If you tell us your venue, we’ll propose the closest practical pickup option and handle the approvals pathway.
Space is limited and depends on aircraft choice. Soft duffel bags are preferred over hard suitcases. The R44 has limited storage (small backpacks only), while the Bell LongRanger and H125 can accommodate larger items like overnight bags and some bulky equipment. View our aircraft pages for aircraft-specific guidance.
Yes. Helicopters have strict maximum take-off weight limits. We may need passenger and luggage weights to ensure a legal and safe flight. Individual seat limits can apply (often around 130kg depending on aircraft). Accurate weights keep the flight safe and compliant.
Bekaa Air operates under a stringent Air Operator’s Certificate (AOC) issued by CASA. Our aircraft are maintained to commercial standards, and our pilots are commercially licensed with specific training in off-airport decision-making and risk management.
For weddings and major events, we recommend 2–4 weeks. For corporate transfers, we can often accommodate 24–48 hours’ notice. Urgent “go-now” request? Call us immediately on 0490 817 727 to check immediate availability.
We can assist with time-critical movements to and from BNE, subject to approvals and operational considerations. We’ll advise the most practical pickup option, confirm any access requirements/fees, and coordinate the timing so it runs cleanly on the day.
Yes. We frequently fly cross-border routes including Brisbane to Byron Bay, Ballina and other NSW destinations. We handle flight planning and airspace requirements for interstate travel.
Our fleet ranges from the Robinson R44 (3 passengers), the Bell LongRanger (6 passengers), to the Airbus H125 (5 passengers). For groups larger than 6, we coordinate multi-aircraft plans so everyone moves seamlessly. See our fleet options here.
No minimum age, but infants (under 3) must be secured with an approved restraint or held by an adult depending on aircraft belts. Children over 3 require their own seat. We recommend ear protection for all children (we provide headsets).
No. Due to safety requirements and cabin configuration, we do not carry pets on our charter flights. This keeps the cabin safe and the aircraft interior protected.
The R44 is a piston helicopter (cost-effective, 3 passengers). Turbine helicopters (LongRanger / H125) provide more power, smoother performance and greater capability for payload and off-field operations. For longer trips or heavier loads, turbines are often the best fit.
Absolutely. We work with venues across the Scenic Rim, Sunshine Coast and Gold Coast hinterland. If you have a specific property or boutique venue in mind, we can coordinate permissions and organise a suitable landing plan.
Yes, primarily for aerial photography or filming missions. This is usually done in the R44 or H125. Please request this at the time of booking as it requires removing equipment before the aircraft leaves the hangar.
Yes. Our aircraft are equipped with air-conditioning systems and premium noise-cancelling headsets to keep you comfortable in Queensland conditions.
No. Single-engine helicopter charter is restricted to Day VFR (Visual Flight Rules) under CASA regulations. This means we must plan to land at least 10 minutes before absolute sunset, and all flights are scheduled within daylight hours.
If we cancel due to weather/safety, you receive a full refund or reschedule. If you cancel, we generally require at least 24 hours’ notice for a refund. Cancellations within 24 hours of flight time may forfeit the booking fee.
A helicopter transfer from Brisbane to the Gold Coast is typically around 20–25 minutes depending on routing and pickup point. Driving can take 90 minutes to 2 hours in peak traffic. Charter is the only option that reliably protects your arrival time.
Aviation is weather-dependent. If low cloud, heavy rain, or strong winds prevent a safe flight, we will delay, reschedule, or offer a full refund (depending on the scenario). Your pilot makes the final safety call before departure.
